June Reading Wrap Up

I have recently got back into reading, more than I have ever expected! I read seven books in June which is unheard of for me! Here is what I read and my thoughts and ratings.

I am definitely a romance girly but I am still finding what types of romance books I prefer because right now I am all over the map. I am also trying to branch out into different genres. I did read a mystery book this month and enjoyed it and I definitely have more on my TBR!

Yours Truly – by Abby Jimenez

This was my first read of the month and OMG I thought this was amazing! I could not put this book down! Such a cute fake dating/workplace romance book. I gave this one 5 stars. We started out June with a bang.

Icebreaker – by Hannah Grace

Booktok definitely influenced me on this one. This was my first introduction to spicy books. The spiciest I had read previous to this one would be Colleen Hoover which in my opinion is pretty mild. This was my first introduction to hockey romance as well and I am definitely hooked! I added all the hockey romance books to my TBR immediately! I also gave this book 5 stars.

The Family Upstairs – by Lisa Jewell

This was my book club read for the month and I really enjoyed it. Especially for being my intro to mystery books. It kept me guessing, there were plot twists I didn’t see coming and I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of the book. I didn’t like the back and forth between so many different perspectives but as I got further along I understood why it was necessary but it was definitely confusing at first. I rated this book 3 stars.

Ugly Love – by Colleen Hoover

Unpopular opinion, but I really do enjoy Colleen Hoover books. She is such an easy, quick read. I get through all her books so quickly. I enjoyed this book quite a bit, some aspects honestly shocked me and it had some plot twists I did not see coming. I also think the cover with part of the story line is pretty messed up if I do say so myself.

The Love Hypothesis – by Ali Hazelwood

Another classic fake dating turns into real feelings scenario. This was so cute, I loved the writing and the banter in this one. Personally I am not a fan of the miscommunication trope and there was some of that in here that I did not enjoy. It frustrates me to no end. Otherwise I thought that it was very cute. I gave this book 4 stars.

It Happened One Summer – by Tessa Bailey

This was my first Tessa Bailey books and I will definitely be picking up every single one of her books from now on. This rich girl forced into a small town and falls in love with a small town boy was adorable, funny, spicy and so good! It had everything I love wrapped into one! I will definitely be reading Hook, Line and Sinker next! I gave this book 5 stars.

Credence – by Penelope Douglas

Holy moly! Booktok influenced me yet again with this one but oh my goodness I was prepared but not prepared at the same time. This book took things to a whole new level for me and I loved it. I definitely can’t read this type of book all the time but every now and then I can handle it. I guess I would consider this a dark romance. This book was morally messed up in so many ways and I enjoyed it more than I would like to admit. I gave this book 5 stars.

Stay tuned for what I will be reading in July. What should I read next?
