To The Girl Who Doesn’t Get A College Graduation

I know, it sucks. You do not get to walk across that stage to accept your diploma like you have been imagining for the last four years. You do not get to wear that cap and gown that you just received in the mail with all of your friends that have stood beside you for the last four years. You had to abruptly move home with hardly any goodbyes said. It doesn’t feel fair.

You Have Worked Hard

You worked your booty off for the last four years. All those late nights studying and gallons of coffee consumed, those mental breakdowns and threats to drop out feel like they are now going unappreciated. You worked hard both mentally and physically for that degree, for that moment of celebration and recognition. Now what? You get that piece of paper in the mail and that’s it? Congratulations you finished? You deserve more.

Your Friends And Family Are Proud Of You

Even though you may not get to walk across that stage in front of your friends and family, they are still proud of you. You successfully completed four years of college, that is something a lot of people do not do. College is hard. I think that is something that everyone knows and understands, so to have successfully completed, to successfully earn your degree is an amazing accomplishment, and trust me, it does not go unnoticed.

Take A Moment To Remember The Last Four Years

Look back on the last four years of your life. You have done and learned so much! You have made new friends and made countless memories. Your college years were probably some of the best years of your life! Remember the good times, and what those years gave you. Remember how much you learned both in and out of the classroom and take that with you into the next chapter of your life.

Be Proud Of Yourself

You deserve to be proud of yourself! Hold your head high, and say “Yes! I did it!” scream it for the world to hear, wear your cap and gown around the house, wear it for the next month, do whatever you want to showcase your accomplishment. Give yourself a pat on the back. You did it. I know it was not easy.

Celebrate However You Want To

Celebrate in your own way. During this pandemic, celebrate with your family, but when this is all over, throw a huge party, or continue to keep it small. Celebrate however you want to. You call the shots, because it is you that deserves to be celebrated. I know this is a hard pill to swallow but that does not mean your achievement should not go unnoticed. Eat all the cake you want and pop that champagne. You did it and I am so so proud of you! Congratulations Class of 2020, we did it!
