Summertime is a time to travel and do everything you have wanted to do and go everywhere you have wanted to go throughout the winter, fall and spring seasons. However, traveling can be difficult. We often do not know what to pack and forget things that we wish we could have brought. Here is a list of my travel necessities to help make my trip a little easier.
Purse/Carry On
Here is a list of the things i like to keep in my purse or carry on bag that I like to have handy on me at all times.
- Book
Whether you are on a long road trip or plane ride, a good book will help pass the time and grow your mind in the meantime.
- Hand sanitizer
Maneuvering in and out of airports, gas stations and wherever else your travels take you, you come across a lot of public places. You will find yourself in gross bathrooms or touching dirty doorknobs and gas pumps, you will want to kill those germs afterwards, so keeping a travel sized hand sanitizer with you will be your saving grace. .
- Water bottle
Airports do not allow you to bring any water through security, but you are allowed to bring your own reusable water bottle as long as it is empty, and once you get past security you can fill it up. This is also nice for long car rides because you will get thirsty at some point. By using your own reusable water bottle you are not wasting plastic bottles and saving sea life with every less plastic bottle you use.
- Deodorant
When traveling you may get hot and sweaty, especially if you are headed somewhere that is hotter or more humid than you are used to. Deodorant will help you stay fresh no matter the weather.
- Medicine
You should keep Tylenol, ibuprofen, tums/probiotics with you. You never know what could happen and would want to be prepared if you need these things in any situation.
- Body mist
If you are like me and are self conscious about the way you smell, you may want to keep body mist with you. Traveling can make you feel icky and you may start to smell funky. Body mist will help you mask those traveling smells and give you a more fresh smell. You will feel better and less self conscious of how you smell.
- Snacks
Traveling can make you hungry. If you just throw a few granola bars and snacks in your purse, you will be grateful you have them when you start to get hangry.
- Hair ties
There is nothing worse than having your hair annoy you when you are trying to get comfortable or when you are running through the airport trying to catch your flight. Having your hair fly in front of your face could not be more annoying. Throw a few hair ties in your bag to help save you from having this problem.
- Killer playlist
Before you leave for your trip, create and download a playlist with all of your favorite songs. Listening to it will make your trip 100 times better and way more fun. There’s nothing like singing at the top of your lungs with the windows down and your best friends by your side.
- Journal
Take a journal or notebook with you wherever you go, so you can document your travels and experiences. They will be fun to look back on later on and remember the details of your trip.
- Pens
You never know when you will need a pen or when someone you are around will need one. Who knows, you may need to give the cute boy you meet at the beach your number.
Suitcase
Here is a list of extra things that I like to pack that will not fit in a carry on or are unnecessary to have on me 24/7.
- Sunscreen
Whether you are at the beach or hiking or spending any time outdoors, you will want sunscreen and you can never have too much. The summertime is the peak time to get sunburned, and the only way to prevent it is with sunscreen. Make sure to pack extra just in case. You will need it at some point.
- Makeup wipes
After a long day of vacationing, you will have a lot of dirt, sweat, sunscreen and makeup on your face. You will want to take all of that off so your pores do not clog and cause blemishes. That is the last thing you want or need on vacation.
- Extra clothes
I know it is easy to over pack, but it is better to over pack than under pack. Bring extra shirts and maybe one or two extra pairs of pants, just in case of a spill or anything. You will want to be prepared for any situation.
Hopefully these few tips can help make your summer travels much more easier and a lot more fun!
