Going into college, everyone tells you that you are probably going to change your major several times. I took that with a grain of salt, I thought that I was going to stick to my major all four years and end with that degree, but jokes on me, that did not happen.
I went into college at Grand Canyon University with a declared major in Business Administration. I was not quite sure what I wanted to do in life after I graduated, I thought of possibly starting my own business, but I knew a business degree was general enough to obtain relatively any job.
As a freshman, I was taking my prerequisite classes and was taking my general education English class, when I realized I was really good at it, got good grades, and actually loved it. That is why I made the decision to change my major to English with an Emphasis in Professional Writing. One simple English class helped make me make a lifelong decision and flipped the light switch on in my brain to help me realize what I truly love.
I have a passion for being a positive light to others, encourage others and let my voice be heard through my writing. Writing allows me to embrace my creative side and encourage and lift up others all at the same time.
We all have a purpose in life, and we can often have a hard time trying to find it. Some days it is easy to give up and get upset because we have no idea what we are doing with our lives. Keep going, don’t get discouraged, trust in the Lord, and he will guide you. He has a purpose for you and will help you to find your calling. There is no timeline for when we need to have everything figured out. Do not compare yourself to others and trust that your own and God’s timing is the right timing.
Pursue the things that you are passionate about, never stop doing what you love. Explore new things, get outside of your comfort zone. You never know what will inspire you and move you to find your purpose in life. Never give up, pursue your dreams and do what makes you happy.
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
