Peppermint is an essential oil that I use on a daily basis and absolutely love. It has so many great uses and can help in so many ways. This is a great oil to have on hand at all times and here is why.
Stomach Problems
Peppermint is a great oil to help relieve an upset stomach. If you are nauseous or ate too much mexican food, put a few drops of peppermint on your stomach and rub it into the area that has discomfort and it will provide relief. Peppermint can do a variety of things for your stomach. It can help smooth the muscles of your GI tract, it has an anti-inflammatory effect, decreases pain in the GI tract and has an effect on the natural bacteria that lives in your GI tract. This oil is so helpful for your stomach when you are experiencing discomfort. If you have frequent stomach aches, try some peppermint, it will be a game changer!
Headaches
If you are someone who gets migraines or headaches quite often, peppermint is an oil that you need in your life. Apply a dab of oil to your forehead or temples and it will have a cooling effect, I like to compare it to a more natural icy hot. It will help relieve that pain and help you get back to your daily routine. You can even make a roller with peppermint and carrier oil if the peppermint straight on is too intense. Add about ten drops to a 10ml roller bottle and top with fractionated coconut oil, give it a good shake and roll it on your head.
Itching/Muscle Pain
If you have an area that is dry, irritated and constantly itching, try putting a little peppermint on it to soothe the itch. If you are experiencing muscle pain from a workout or if you slept wrong, any kind of muscle pain you are experiencing, put a drop of pain on the area and massage it in and your muscles will relax and the pain will start to go away.
Diffuser Benefits
- Energy: Put a few drops in the diffuser to help give you more energy and to relieve some mental fog. It is a great oil to diffuse when you are working from home to keep you on task and energized.
- Stress Relief: Along with clearing mental fog, it can also help to relieve stress and help you to relax. This is another great reason it is a great oil to diffuse while working. Or apply it to your wrists or neck before you go into the office at work to make stressful days easier.
- Sickness: If you have some sinus pressure or congestion and have a cough or cold, diffusing peppermint will help relieve the sinus pressure and suppress your cough. Breathe in the diffuser mist for a little bit to get more instant relief.
Hair Growth
Add a few drops of peppermint to your shampoo or conditioner to help promote hair growth. It is great if you are losing hair or would just like to grow your hair longer. You can even add it to the Mermaid Hair Spray to spray on your scalp after you shower.
Add Flavor
Young Living’s peppermint essential oil is approved by the FDA and safe to ingest (do not ingest oils from other brands). You can add it to baked goods, coffee, hot chocolate, you name it to add a little bit more flavor and add a peppermint kick to your food, drinks and baked goods.
